IML(In Molding Label)

IMD process is mainly divided into four components which include ink and printing technology, moulding process, punching and cutting as well as back injection molding. All of the processes are independent of each other with the perfect relationship to each other so as to make sure that the whole IMD production is carried out smoothly.

  • IML Main Feature: IML has a hardened transparent PET film surface (2H-4H), middle printing pattern layer, and a back injection molding layer. The sandwich design is scratch-free and resistant to friction, ensuring that colors are bright and do not fade away.
  • Material: PMMA/plexiglass/acrylic/PET/PC/PVC of various thicknesses or his request
  • Size: Die cut in various sizes or shapes according to design of customer
  • Printing: Off-set printing, Silk printing, UV Coating, Water base varnishing, Hot Foil stamping, Embossing, Imprint (we will receive any type of printing)
  • Finish: Glossy, matte, textured or frosted

Order FAQs

Q1: Can you do OEM service?

A1: Yes! Since the year 2005 we have been an OEM manufacturer. Welcome custom designs!

Q2: What is your lowest order quantity?

A2: No limit of MOQ concerning common materials. There are sample orders, trial orders and mass production orders.

Q3: Can I order with just my logo?

A3: Of course. Accepting the OEM orders under your logo, size, thickness and shape is your design.

Q4: What about the sample cost?

A4:

  • Sample of our former orders (freight paid).
  • Custom samples are charged per material, level of design and printing colors.
  • The sample cost will be returned after your total order has reached the amount that is agreed upon.

Q5: How to order?

A5:

  1. Send us your specifications in an e-mail to info@graphicoverlaysz.com and receive a free quote.
  2. Place artwork order and confirm order and set up payment.
  3. Accept electronic evidence & timetable of delivery.
  4. Check delivery address, invoice and packing list.
  5. Tracking number delivery (express / air / sea).
  6. Get goods and have after sales service.

Q6: Which printing and material specifications do you favor on IML labels?

A6: We have PP, synthetic IML-grade, and PET materials that can be used in varied conditions of injection molding.

The printing alternatives are UV printing, metallic effects, gloss/matte finishes and anti-scratch finishes.
Favourite, please inform us your moulding material (PP/ABS/HDPE) to suit the right one IML substrate.

Q7: What is the information required to make an accurate IML quote?

A7: To make sure that the costs are accurate, please provide:

  • Material in container and molding temperature
  • Required IML material (PP/PET)
  • Thickness, size, shape, and outline of cutting
  • Surface effect (matte, gloss, metallic, transparent, frosted)
  • High heat resistance, antiscratch coating, food-contact material, etc

The obtained details enable us to make the right IML film and printing technique.

Q8: How many days do you have as your average lead time of IML orders?

A8:

  • Standard IML labels: 5–8 days
  • Metallic influences / artwork of high-resolution / special die-cut forms: 7–12 days
  • Large-volume orders: 10–15 days

Depending on the complexity of printing and stocking of materials, the lead time can be varied.

Custom Tips

In order to obtain your IML labels to have the ultimate adhesion, durability, and appearance during injection molding, please find the following tips prior to placing your order:

1. Select the Right IML Material on Your Type of Resin

Material compatibility is necessary at IML.

To ensure the highest possible bond strength, align IML substrate to your molding resin (e.g. PP IML to PP containers).

This eliminates warping, bubbling, or delamination since the molding.

2. Check Your Temperament of Injection Molding

The layers of ink and the stability of the film may be influenced by high molding temperatures.

Please tell us what is your molding temperature range we will prepare the appropriate heat-resistant film and ink system.

3. Give Specific Requirements in Cutting and Positioning

The labels of IML should be precise in their shape to fit into the mold.

Please specify:

  • Cutting outline
  • Positioning tolerance
  • Alignment marks

Accurate sizing is important so that the label will not wrinkle or get out of place when being injected.

4. Take into Account Surface Finish According to Use of the Product

There are matte, gloss, textured, transparent, metallic and anti-scratch finishes, and none of them acts the same way when molded.

Tell me what you want it to look like in the end and we can recommend the appropriate finishing.

5. Do Not Use Too Thin or Complicated Shapes

Injection pressure may cause IML labels that are too small, too thin, or too detailed to shift.

Outlines and corners are slightly rounded and the simplicity will enhance stability within the mold.

6. Tell Us Whether You Require Food Grade Labels or Chemical Resistant Labels

IML is normally applied in food containers, cosmetics and household chemicals.

Please specify if you need:

  • Food-contact safe material
  • Chemical-resistant coating
  • Outdoor product ink that is UV resistant

7. Request a Sample Before Mass Production

A sample helps you verify color, thickness, stiffness, and compatibility with your molding machine.

This reduces adjustment time and ensures a smooth production run.
