Custom Tips
In order to make sure that your medical labels will be able to meet the durability, clarity, and compliance needed by health care applications, the following are some tips that you are to consider before ordering your medical labels:
1. Select the Right Material of your Medical Use
The medical settings demand alcohol, disinfectants, moisture and chemical-resistant labels.
In the case of refrigerated or frozen products, ask to use cold-resistant or freezer grade adhesives in order to avoid peeling.
2. Certify the Sterilization Requirements
In case your labels have to withstand ETO, gamma, steam autoclave or UV sterilization, please notify us prior.
We will suggest the appropriate substrates and inks that would not vanish, crinkle, or peel off upon sterilization of materials.
3. Offer High-Resolution or Vector Art
Small text, UDI barcodes, lot numbers and warning icons are common features of the medical labels.
The use of vector artwork (AI, PDF, CDR) makes it sharp to print and high barcodes can be read.
4. Indicate Requirement of Variable or Traceability Data
We are in favor of variable printing including:
- UDI / GS1 barcodes
- Serial numbers
- Batch/Lot numbers
- QR or DataMatrix codes
The ability to provide digital data formats (Excel/CSV) in order to facilitate precision.
5. Select Adhesive Based on Surface & Device Material
Label adhesion varies depending on whether the surface is plastic, glass, stainless steel, PE bags, or coated medical devices.
Please tell us your application surface so we can recommend permanent, removable, low-tack, or 3M medical-grade adhesives.
6. Consider Lamination or Special Coatings
For areas exposed to frequent wiping or disinfection, choose:
- Scratch-resistant lamination
- Chemical-resistant coating
- Matte anti-glare finish
These treatments protect critical information from fading or smudging.
7. Request Samples for Validation Testing
Hospitals and medical device companies often require approval testing.
A physical sample helps you verify:
- Sterilization stability
- Adhesive performance
- Barcode scan quality
- Color durability and print clarity
